About the Director - Simon
Born and raised in Emsworth, Simon Robinson has called this unique corner of the South Coast home for over 50 years. Growing up between Chichester Harbour and the South Downs shaped a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors, thoughtful design, and the coastal lifestyle that continues to inspire his work today.
Simon holds both a Bachelor's (Honours) Degree in Architecture and a Master of Architecture (MA) from the University of Portsmouth. His architectural career has been driven by a passion for creating places that combine beautiful design with outstanding performance, balancing aesthetics, functionality, and lasting quality.
Travel has always been a significant source of inspiration. Over the years Simon has explored diverse cultures and landscapes across India, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and the USA. Each journey has broadened his understanding of design, craftsmanship and the way people connect with their environment, influencing both his professional approach and personal outlook.
An enthusiastic skier for many years, Simon has spent countless winters in the Alps, embracing the challenge and exhilaration of mountain life. Equally at home on the water, he has enjoyed sailing extensively throughout the Greek Islands and has a lifelong passion for windsurfing and watersports. As a qualified Yachtmaster and Dinghy Instructor, as well as a keen racer on Chichester Harbour, Simon has developed a deep respect for performance, reliability and precision—qualities that are essential both on the water and in design.
These experiences have helped shape Simon's philosophy: that the best products and places combine simplicity, quality, durability and exceptional performance. This belief has led to the creation of Coastbound, a brand inspired by the freedom of coastal living and a commitment to thoughtful, high-quality design. Through Coastbound, Simon aims to bring together his lifelong passions for architecture, travel, sailing and performance, creating products that are built to last, beautifully designed and made for people who share a love of the coast and the outdoors.
